If only Judas had stayed long enough to experience God's grace.
This painting was made to portray the scandal of grace and forgiveness. Here, Jesus holds a deceased Judas. Judas was known to be the one to ultimately betray Christ to be crucified. Not long after his betrayal, Judas hung himself to die out of remorse.
It is my belief, that if Judas continued to live, he would have been met by God's unrelenting love. And if we continue to live, we'll come to discover that too.
